Michelle has a passion for supporting adolescents, with most of her career spent with the Department of Education. Michelle is fully aware of the challenges young people face and has a strong ability to create a safe, nonjudgemental and respectful space for teens to open up and flourish. Michelle has extensive experience supporting teens with a range of challenges including depression, anxiety, adjustment issues, relationships, family breakdown, self esteem issues, suicidal ideation, self harm, navigating identity, sexual assault, trauma and more.
Michelle enjoys helping parents and families to improve their communication, manage difficult emotions, understand each other better, and in turn rebuild empathy and foster a secure attachment. As a qualified Tuning into Teens Facilitator Michelle utilises the latest developmental and attachment theory to help families thrive.
The path to motherhood can be anything but linear. Whilst for some it is a joyous and cherished period for others in can be a time of immense stress, anxiety, heartbreak and sadness. Michelle provides perinatal support no matter where you are at on your journey- hoping for, carrying, cradling or coping with an empty nest. Michelle brings both her professional expertise and her personal experiences as a mother to provide deeply compassionate and empathetic care to those in the perinatal period.
Michelle is on a mission to reduce the prevalence of birth trauma in Australia and the best way to reduce it is to prevent it from happening in the first place. For this reason Michelle is now offering birth preparation sessions. These sessions are designed to unpack all your fears and anxieties relating to childbirth, help empower you with knowledge, whilst also providing you with psychological strategies to help prepare for the birth you desire.
Unfortunately, 1 in 3 Australian women experience birth trauma and many are left feeling confused, violated and lost. Michelle provides birth debriefing to help you move through these feelings and make sense of your experiences.
Michelle provides comprehensive cognitive assessments for children aged 6 to 16 years. These assessments are used to determine a child's cognitive strengths and any areas they may need support or intervention. They can help to identify learning difficulties, giftedness, developmental delays and attentional challenges. Not only supporting diagnosis of certain conditions but offering detailed information about how a child learns, solves problems, and processes information. They are an invaluable tool for highlighting areas of cognitive strength, helping parents and schools to tailor learning support and interventions.
Michelle is equipped to provide comprehensive support for a wide range of general mental health concerns. Using a range of evidenced base interventions she has experience working with depression, anxiety, stress management, infertility, grief and loss, trauma, relationship issues and more.
